Pre-School
Pre-School
At Ficus Tree School this level is divided into four sub-levels: nursery, kindergarten, pre-kindergarten, and preparatory, so we work with children from one and a half years old until 5 years old. Seeing that children prefer to learn while playing, we teach in English and Spanish with primary daily, interactive activities such as singing, games, stories, and projects.
No matter what the child’s first language is, it will also be reinforced as they are instructed with the new language, so they can grasp both languages from an early age, taking advantage of the fact that learning languages early in life is most effective.
In the same way, we work with educational projects that are mainly focused on learning and creating a relationship between what they learn and their lifestyle. Likewise, parents can participate in their children’s projects at the end of each month.
These levels of your child’s learning are undoubtedly one of the most important; not all education focuses only on how much content is taught, but must be applied together with a comfortable and neat environment, which is colorful and inspires joy in children, where they feel loved and valued.
Nursery
From here, your child’s learning levels begin, and every day we strive to create an environment that allows you to stimulate your child’s learning through movement, exploration, and personalized attention.
Our daily program is based on the needs of each child, implementing schedules that match what you want your child to develop at home, as we want to make sure that each day is familiar and consistent for your child.
In this level, we include activities such as changing diapers, feeding, personalized interactions, spending time outdoors, breaks, arts, and crafts.
We know how difficult it is to leave your baby in a nursery, to separate from him/her for hours. That is why every activity carried out with your child every day will be documented in the teacher’s notebook, so you are aware of everything that has to do with the learning and care of your child.
A Day at the Infant Center
Our daily program is based on each infant’s unique needs. We will implement a schedule which coincides with the one you have developed with your baby at home. Caring for your infant will entail a team effort between home and school. We want to make sure each baby’s day consists of familiarity and consistency.
Some of your infant’s activities will include:
- Feedings
- Diaper changes
- Rest
- One-on-one interactions
- Outdoor time
- Arts and crafts
- Music class
To keep you informed and involved, your infant’s daily activities will be documented and provided in writing each day.
Pre-kinder
The education at this level starts from age 3, with schedules between 7:30 am and 2:40 pm.
At this level, the child learns to relate to others, develops responsibility, solidarity and the importance of respecting the rules, and also begins to form a character. That is why we try to instill good behavior as we teach them to perform with the English and Spanish languages, maintaining activities to achieve it.
We are in the stage in which the brain of children is more willing to receive stimuli that will favor their socialization, creativity, and learning.
These are critical moments where we work hard to take advantage of every opportunity that is presented to us to teach and achieve the goals that are established with each child.
Each classroom is run by two teachers: the main teacher and the assistant. Both have extensive knowledge about the languages, and the educational program that we implement in Ficus Tree School.
Kinder
Kinder starts at age 4, where they learn to be more independent and self-sufficient, even more so because their parents are not around, so they start trying to solve problems on their own, and learn to ask for help.
These opportunities should be used to start using the language, engage in conversations with children and encourage them to use and pronounce words they previously did not know.
We use associations through drawings, paintings, children’s stories, songs, and body movements, resulting in more fun learning.
Our teaching staff is responsible for preparing each child according to what has been previously stipulated with their parents, in addition to – as in previous levels – each classroom has two teachers to work with children.
The class schedule starts at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 2:40 p.m.
Prepa
This level starts with children of 5 years of age, where children usually want everything to be done according to their will, where they begin to set limits, and they are taught the manners as well as their hygiene. It is to be expected that we use all this to show them new words, as well as an adequate performance in their daily life.
After the individual adjustments we make in Ficus Tree School, we establish guidelines for each child, as well as their tastes and interests, including in our program of activities so they can enjoy and learn by playing.
We begin to include creative and abstract problems, and we go a little further on the topics that we develop so that they are able to formulate more complex questions, as well as activities that involve other children since in this way they tend to be encouraged and learn more.
Likewise, we involve the writing of a more complex form than the previous levels, we encourage the invention of children’s stories in the languages that are being taught, as well as the use of numbers and how to perform simple addition and subtraction, in the same way, the children begin to have knowledge of the time and what time is.
In short, each stage of the child and his/her growth is welcome to develop the necessary milestones in each level.
